Harold Ford Jr.has apparently chosen the heir to his crown.Will Jr. Be able to pass on the seat like his father passed it on to him. Will the citizens of the 9th Congressional District stand for his royal highness to tell them to kiss his red ass,because he can do what he wants to do.
The person he has chosen is an unknown by the name of Nikki Tinker.Tinker is a 34 year old lawyer who was raised in Gadsen Ala. She earned her undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Ala. After working in private practice in Birmingham an Memphis,she became the general counsel for Northwest Airlink in Memphis last year.It has been reported that she plans to run as a centrist democrat.By the way she has served as Jr's campaign manager.
Why does little Harold feel as though he has the power to just say who he wants the next congressman to be?He feels that way because he knows that he has so many of the district's citizen head so far up his Ass,that he can hardly walk.When will the people realize that the Ford's don't own the inner city.They want control of an area that most of them refuse to live in.Joseph Ford just moved to cordova,but he will be allowed to run in district 3 without the election commission saying one word.
Why would Jr. Want to force this unknown who has No history of working in the district on the people? Why would he pick someone who has never been to a community meeting in south Memphis or has worked to help anyone in the district? Why would he pick someone from Ala. Who does not know the plight of the poor in Memphis? Why?Because he's a Ford,and you've been trained like a dog to roll over on command.

I take it that Ford is openly touting her as someone who should be the next 9th district congresswoman? Maybe he thinks she will step aside when/if he ever wants his seat back. Wonder why none of his siblings are interested? Or maybe they are.

Thaddeus, little Harold has his panties in a bunch. He is totally pissed off about his other family members like Jake wanting to run for his throne. Harold really looks at his family as being crazy and dumb. Think back before John trouble came up, John made it known he wanted to run for Little Harold's throne; Harold said he will not support his uncle. So I think this is a good thing if he wants Nikki Tinker to run. Because you know the Ford Family will pick a family member to run against her. So we need to pick some one like A.C only if he decide to run (I know he said he will not, but I hope he will rethink that).If A.C., runs I think he will beat any Ford and Nikki Tinker hands down. Harold is not like his family, he really look down on them just like he look down on the people in the 9th Congressional district.

You are contributing to your own problem - no more Fords. The young lady you mention as heir annointed by Junior has only been in Memphis since about 1996. Your bloggers probably didn't know her and aren't likely to cross her name save for some EXPENSIVE advertisement on her part, so why give her the FREE publicly she so sorely needs? Secondly Thad, I think Junior is smart enough not to annoint ANYONE because every candidate has her\his own support base. Therefore, if ALL the other candidates get upset because they didn't get the annointment, Junior loses a lot of votes himself in the Senate race that he otherwise would get if he kept his ANNOINTMENT to himself. The lady has as much right to run as any other qualified voter.
I am supporting Junior 100% for Senate (he would better represent me at this time, at this position than any Republican and probably any other Demcocrat). But I absolutely oppose his re-election to Representative 100%! His conservatism (tampering with Social Security, opposing Bankruptcy Protections, etc.) has exceeded his value to the 9th Congressional District!

Jr. can promote who he wants. Thaddeaus get your mind off the Fords. They're moving on with their lives regardless of who likes it or not. Nikke Tinker is a pretty woman and very smart. I know two candidates that will be running and either one ofthem would make great congressman. Their names are Edward Stanton and Authur Horne. Both are lawyers and will do great in that seat. Facts are it would be next to impossible for another DEMOCRAT to defeat Junior in the 9th Congressional District this year. So Junior is doing us and himself a favor by running for Senate. That's why I am 100% for his Senate run. I am tired of his conservativism and no Republican or Independent has a chance of winning the 9th District seat in '06.

Know matter, who represents you, you would have to make a big change in your lives. Start caring more about your families and yourselves. Do not let anybody (Ford, Matthews, Hooks, Tinker, Herenton etc) Run you by the tail. If they tell you one thing and do another vote them out. Get smarter about the issues that matter to you. I’m a lifetime democrat who is supporting Rosalind Kurita for U.S. Senate. Kurita knows what it is like to work for a living, she has lived in TN, and is seeking this seat for all the right reasons. If Kurita is not the nominee (which is does not appear she will be) I’ll vote for the Republican in a heartbeat. The way I look at it, this works out for either of us. Jr. - out of Congress – period. His voting against the interests of his 9th district constituents (to suit his own interests) is unforgivable. If he were self-made, it would be a little different.
Well its already been announced that A.C. is running for Mayor again and Ed Stanton is running for the 9th District(both were at Bill Gibbons dinner last night hamming it up). Art Horne is in no way ready to represent anybody. He's just packaged in a nice wrapper. See you at the polls. Thaddeus we have to get aggressive with this campaigning. There will be some mighty big guns coming out for the next local elections. Start early and hard.

If Doc ran for the 9th he'd give it a good fight. Jake doesn't stand a snowball's cehance in hell(he has toooooo many skeletons, I guess you can be under control when your on the payroll). If Doc ran, which I doubt. He would only be doing it to effectively shut out the Ford's in any local office. More than likely he won't do it. I mean why? He already has enough money to retire nicely. I think Doc would do just fine if he ran. You are right Herenton is old; he can use that to win. Young people in Memphis do not vote. Older blacks in Memphis love Herenton, because he is good at playing the race card. I see Stephen Cohen, being a good congressman, but he will not get any blacks votes. Bill Frist and his family were staunch Democrats until 96?, (I believe that's when he ran). Thaddeus, what's up with the black baptist preachers? So many black preachers in Memphis are being hired as pastors and once they get in they formulate there on team and push all old members out of the church and get rid of all deacons and trustees and all constutitions and rules of the church. How can they do this? They treat members as though they are slaves on a plantation and whatever they say is right and we as black church members will beleive anything the preacher says. They put division in the church instead of love.

I don't know who Nikki Tinker is, but I am open to hear her agenda and all prospective candidates before I make a decision. It is time to give all non career politicians a chance and once that is done set term limits for Congress and the Senate. There is a need for NEW BLOOD in government on the local, state, and federal level in all cities.
Also, I don't live in the city therefore I never voted for Herenton, but if he was to run for a seat in Washington. This is definitely one vote he will NOT get. Memphians have an unusual loyalty to his arrogant attitude.
